The Tangier Holly Run, an annual tradition since 1966, has evolved over the years. Beginning as a simple fly-out by a few friends to bring holly and Christmas cheer to the people of tangier, it has evolved to add many traditions such as Santa flying-in, a Christmas church service, and of course, a crab cake lunch. Today, the fun of the fly-out continues but the Holly Run has also evolved into a fundraiser to help provide critical services to elderly and often widowed residents of the island. We are now teaming up with the Carlisle Mission Team, a group of enthusiastic and hands-on church goers representing five churches from Pennsylvania. They donate part of their Summer helping the people of Tangier by building handicap ramps, repairing, and doing other greatly needed services on the island. All funds donated by Holly Run participants support this work.

Early last year, an elderly resident fell off of her steps and tumbled out of her house. Volunteers of the Carlisle Mission Team built her a safe ramp with railings partially funded by the 2022 Holly Run.

We will be making our annual pilgrimage to spread Christmas cheer on Tangier again this year December 7th with a snow/rain date of the 14th! We hope you will join us for this fun fly-out and also support the residents of Tangier through a tax-deductible donation.
